So what brings me here?

A quick summary of what brings me here -  I'm Nicole, a 24 yr old student from Sydney Australia. I have been studying for quite a few years, and never really knew what i wanted to do, as every course i was doing just didn't feel right. I started my Arts degree and found it too boring, then moved onto my teaching degree, and it wasn't long before my childhood dream of being a school teacher came to an end once i realised it just wasn't for me.

It was then that I started my degree in Travel & Tourism, and have not looked back. I love travelling, that being said i haven't travelled extensively overseas (yet!),  I have visited islands in the pacific, but thats as far as it goes. Unfortunately study schedules and work have been getting in the way, but with my studies coming to an end soon, it will definitely be time to focus on seeing more of the world.

It was during my studies that I discovered the Disney program, which could be completed as an internship towards my degree. The minute i found out about it, I knew i needed to do it! I attended an information session in March 2013, to apply for Jan 2014 intake. Unfortunately because i was doing my degree externally and not on Campus, i would not be eligible for the Visa. So I spoke to another girl at the info session, and she explained that if I completed a 1year course at college, that would make me eligible. So after crying for about a week, scared that my Disney dream was ruined, I became more determined than ever and made the decision to defer my degree for a year to pursue my Disney dream and do the 1year college course. It was later i found out the course would credit my degree, so it worked out well.

So here i am, 1 year later, and more excited than ever as the prospect of working at Disney is just so close. I have now applied for the Jan 2015 intake, which is my last chance to get into the program. I thought I would write about what brings me here because, my journey towards Disney has exactly been that. I didn't just wake up one morning and decide I wanted to do the program. It has already been a journey of nearly 2 years, waiting to meet the requirements of the Visa. I have experienced moments of excitement, joy, pain, disappointment, anxiousness and the list goes on.

I look forward to sharing this journey with you.

First Post!

So this is my first attempt at blogging my journey, to be honest it has crossed my mind so many times, but never know whether or not anyone would be interested in anything I have to say!

Regardless, I have decided to keep myself in check by writing about each step of my journey leading up to, (and hopefully during) the program not only for my own reference but also for any other people thinking about applying, or in the process of applying.

Cant wait to share my experience with everyone!
